Reuse. Recover. Reconnect.

The marketplace for things that still have life in them.

TrashMart is a community-focused marketplace for selling, giving away and finding second-hand items — and for keeping recyclable materials in circulation instead of letting them become waste.

What TrashMart is

Waste is not always the end of an item's useful life.

What one person no longer needs is often valuable to somebody else: as a working product, as material worth recovering, or as something that can be repaired and given a second life. TrashMart brings those opportunities into one place.

Reuse

List items you no longer need, and help useful things find new owners instead of being discarded.

Recovery

Recyclable materials are easier to find, connecting the people who have them with the people who can use them.

Community

Discovery is local and specific — the listings, wanted posts and activity that are actually near you.

How it works

Four steps, and nothing in the way.

  1. Create an account Sign up with an email address and choose the area you are in.
  2. Post or browse List an item or material, post a wanted ad for something you are looking for, or search what is near you.
  3. Message directly Talk to the other person in the app, on the listing itself.
  4. Meet and confirm Agree the handover between yourselves, then confirm the transaction so a review can be left.

More than a marketplace

Built around communities, not endless listings.

A marketplace becomes useless when it buries you in thousands of listings from places you will never travel to. A community can be a university, a neighbourhood, a town, or any other local area that means something to the people in it — so the platform grows around real communities rather than one undifferentiated pool of listings.

Local by default

Listings carry a country, state and local area, so what you see is close enough to be worth the trip.

Your location stays yours

Your exact location is never stored. It is used on your device to work out which communities you are in, and nothing more.

Reviews that mean something

Reviews are tied to confirmed transactions, which closes off self-rating and manufactured reputations.

Trust and safety

A marketplace is only worth using if you can trust the people in it.

Several layers of trust and safety are built into TrashMart, with more in development.

Public profiles

Every account has a profile, so there is something to judge.

Reporting and moderation

Listings, messages and users can be reported, and reports are reviewed.

Verification

Account verification and separate business accounts are in development.
